Bellingham The City of Bellingham, in Whatcom County, is home to nationally recognized Western Washington University. Community-wide activities, varied commerce and colorful history accent this lively city.
Downtown
Bellingham's historic architecture and hometown feel make it an enjoyable
place to spend the day or evening. The City is host to Art Walks, the
Ski-to-Sea race and many other cultural and sports activities year-round.
The Fairhaven
District offers a variety of establishments to meet the consumer's needs.
Galleries, dining establishments, specialty and fine jewelry shops, as well
as banks and other services are in close proximity to Creekside at

Hospitals St. Joseph Hospital delivers a full range of services including 24-hour emergency and trauma care, total heart care, comprehensive cancer care, specialized senior health care, a childbirth center and much more. Schools Western Washington University and a number of excellent post-high school educational institutions are located in Bellingham. The Bellingham School District has thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools and one alternative high school. Parks and Recreation Wildlife viewing, photography and golf are just a few of the leisure activities the surrounding area has to offer. Numerous public and private golf courses are located throughout Whatcom County and nearby Skagit and Snohomish Counties.
Local parks have facilities for boating, swimming, biking and hiking, as well as sports fields. Several parks have dog exercise areas. The Arne Hanna Aquatic Center features an indoor waterslide, lap pool, dive tank and more.
There are several walking, cycling and bridle trails throughout the City. Interurban Trail runs seven miles from Larrabee State Park to Old Fairhaven Parkway offering views of Chuckanut Bay and the San Juan Islands.
Transportation Interstate 5 and State Route 9 run north and south through Bellingham. SR 9 meets the Mount Baker Highway, SR542, and travels east through the foothills to the top of Mount Baker. Whatcom Transportation Authority serves the Bellingham and the surrounding area with Vanpool and ride-share opportunities for commuters, bike racks on the front of the buses, and service for people with disabilities.
Private Ferries provide year-round service to Alaska; Victoria, British Columbia and the San Juan Islands. Commercial whale watching and sightseeing tours are also available.
Squalicum Harbor is Bellingham's primary port, with moorage for over 1800 pleasure and commercial boats. A two-mile boardwalk offers views of the harbor. Several private marinas are located along Bellingham Bay as well. Just north of the City center, Bellingham International Airport serves commercial jets from three scheduled airlines on its 6700-foot runway. Blaine Municipal Airport and Lynden Municipal Airport also serve smaller craft.
