Surrounded by the foothills of the Cascade Mountains and the shores of
Puget Sound, the natural beauty of Skagit Valley lends a peaceful atmosphere to this community.

 

Less than two miles from The Ridge, downtown Mount Vernon has something for everyone.  Specialty shops, bookstores, cafes and fine dining, banks and other services line the brick sidewalks of this city by the Skagit River.  Also downtown are the Lincoln Theater, offering unique entertainment throughout the year, and the Children's Museum of Skagit County.

Mount Vernon's medical community lies one mile from The Ridge.  Skagit Valley Hospital, Medical Center, Dialysis Complex and local clinics put The Ridge residents just minutes from quality health care services.

Parks and Recreation

(Hillcrest Park Lodge)              Hillcrest Park is just one of the 23 parks in the City with over 30 acres of  wooded trails, playgrounds, picnic facilities, sports fields and a beautiful lodge available to the public.

 

 

Public golf courses in the area offer a variety of challenges to the avid golfer.  Within two miles of The Ridge lies Eaglemont Golf Course, an 18-hole championship golf course, rated 4 Stars by Golf Digest.

Mount Baker, Puget Sound, and the North Cascades                       
Highway provide outdoor recreation opportunities for your enjoyment.
The San Juan Islands and Victoria, British Columbia are easy day trips
from Mount Vernon.

 Transportation

The new Skagit Station is home to Skagit Area Transit (SKAT), the Amtrak Cascades and the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce.  Greyhound Bus Lines and several taxi services are just a short distance away.

SKAT provides inexpensive local bus service throughout Skagit Valley.

The Amtrak Cascades travels from Eugene, Oregon to Vancouver, British Columbia, stopping at Skagit Station twice daily.

The Washington State Ferry terminal in Anacortes provides service to the San Juan Islands and Victoria, British Columbia.  Private ferries and cruise lines offer transportation, dinner cruises and whale watching tours throughout the Puget Sound region.

Skagit Regional Airport and terminal is a popular general aviation facility located in Burlington, Washington.  It offers amenities such as aircraft fuels and maintenance, a restaurant and deli and related aircraft services.
